  1.                 Keyboard Operation

  4. Most functions are available from the keyboard.
  5.  
  6. The purpose of this file is to provide a quick reference of
  7. the keys to use for various functions.  These functions are
  8. explained in more detail under their own items on the Help
  9. menu.
  10.

  12. Menus
  13. -----
  14.  
  15. A menu can be displayed from the keyboard by holding down
  16. the "Alt" key while pressing the first letter of the menu 
  17. title.  For example, to display the File menu:
  18.  
  19.         Press and hold the "Alt" key.
  20.         Press and release the "F" key.
  21.         Release the "Alt" key.
  22.  
  23. Press the character on the right side of the menu to select
  24. that function.
  25.  
  26. You can also use most menu items without first displaying the
  27. menu.  For example, you can select the File/Open function by 
  28. simply pressing the "O" key.  There are more menu items than
  29. characters available so there is some duplication.
  30.  
  31. When you press a menu item character, and no menu is displayed,
  32. the menus are searched from left to right for that character.
  33. The Run menu, with user-defined commands, is on the left so it
  34. is searched first.  If you were to define a command with a 
  35. keyboard equivalent of "O", pressing the "O" key, would activate
  36. that function instead of File/Open.

  39. SSTV Mode
  40. ---------

  42. The function keys F1 through F8 are used to select the family
  43. of SSTV modes:
  44.  
  45.         F1      Robot 1200C color
  46.         F2      Robot B&W
  47.         F3      Martin
  48.         F4      Scottie
  49.         F5      AVT
  50.         F6      Wraase
  51.         F7      Miscellaneous (old European B&W)
  52.         F8      Pasokon TV high resolution 640 x 480
  53.  
  54. Alt-F1 through Alt-F5 are used to select up to 5 different speeds
  55. in each of these groups.

  57. Some characteristics of the current mode can be found by picking
  58. "SSTV Mode" on the Setup menu.  
  59.  
  60. For more detailed information on all the modes, pick "SSTV Mode"
  61. from the Help menu or look in the file MODES.TXT.

  64. Auto Save
  65. ---------
  66.  
  67. The "Auto Save" controls allow you to save images to disk 
  68. automatically and review them later.

  79. Typically you would press "End" to see the most recent image
  80. saved, and "Page Up" to step through older and older images.
  81. Along the way, "Delete" can be used to clean out the ones you
  82. don't want to keep.

  87. Xmit / Recv
  88. -----------

  90. The Transmit / Receive controls are:
  91.

  99. You will notice that the "Recv" button has an extra rectangle
  100. around the text.  The button with this extra rectangle is 
  101. called the default button and may be picked by pressing the 
  102. "Enter" key.  Typically the "OK" button of a dialog box will
  103. be the default button.

  105. Transmit and the AVT alignment tone will end automatically
  106. when they are finished.  They can be terminated early by 
  107. clicking a mouse button or pressing any key.  Don't telephone
  108. me and say that your keyboard doesn't have a key labelled
  109. "Any".  The space bar is a good choice because it has no
  110. other function and you won't get an unwanted result if you 
  111. press it more than once or right when transmit was about to
  112. end anyhow.

  114. Receive will run until you click a mouse button or press a key.

  117. Image Selection
  118. ---------------

  120. Use the left and right arrow keys to step through the thumbnail
  121. images displayed on the bottom of the screen.
  122.  
  123. The up arrow causes a full screen display of the image when 
  124. using the standard resolution 640 x 480 screen.

  127. File Selector
  128. -------------

  130. The File Selector is the dialog box that appears for the Open
  131. and Save items in the File menu.  You can use the following 
  132. keys instead of the mouse:
  133.  
  134.         Home            - Go to first item in this directory.
  135.                           Usually this will be ".." which 
  136.                           means go up one directory level.
  137.  
  138.         End             - Go to last item in this directory.
  139.         
  140.         Page Up         - Scroll up 9 files.
  141.                           Same as clicking region above slider.
  142.  
  143.         Page Down       - Scroll down 9 files.
  144.                           Same as clicking region below slider.
  145.  
  146.         Up Arrow        - Scroll up one file.
  147.                           Same as clicking arrow above slider.
  148.                           
  149.         Down Arrow      - Scroll down one file.
  150.                           Same as clicking arrow below slider.
  151.                           
  152.         Enter           - Same as OK button.  (Note that it 
  153.                           a rectangle around the text, 
  154.                           indicating that it is the default
  155.                           button.)
  156.                           Select the currently highlighted 
  157.                           file or directory.
  158.  
  159.         Esc             - Cancel.
  160.  
  161.         Printable characters - Enter a new file name.
  162.                           Use a period (.) before the file
  163.                           extension rather than inserting
  164.                           spaces.
  165.  
  166.         Alt-A ... Alt-Z - Select different disk drive.
  167.                           Note that there are buttons only 
  168.                           for drives A through F so you must
  169.                           use the keyboard for later letters.

  171.         Alt-1 ... Alt-8 - Toggle the file type selectors.
